About Prayas
Born from a vision to bridge the gap between educated youth and social problems, Prayas has been empowering communities across India since 2016.
Mission
To improve the social and economic condition of people and children living in poverty and inspire and guide the youth to replicate our learning across the nation.
Vision
To build a network of autonomous organizations and run centers across India, developing an ecosystem for poor children and youth, providing them with a platform for ensuring the fulfillment of Sustainable Development Goals.
Our Plan
We plan to involve our centers in end-to-end development of nation-wide social initiatives, empowering them with skills to identify problems in their locality and design social initiatives as they mature.
Our Story
The Beginning (2004)
Back in 2004, our Founder & Chairman Mr. Mrinal Kanti Bhanja noticed a very common problem: "About how the youth of our country are ignorant of the social problems that exist in our country". He identified two major bottlenecks about why youth lacked social commitment: Firstly, the social problems aren't portrayed well in the bookish knowledge which people gain through the curriculum and hence are generally unaware of the real scenario at the grass-root level.
The Solution
Secondly, even if they are well aware of the real-world scenarios there was a lack of platform or proper guidance & a team of like-minded people to execute their ideas regarding existing social problems. This gap could only be filled through early exposure to these social problems. We have to motivate the youth of our country to consider these bottlenecks in our country's progress as their own problems and provide them with a platform to execute their solutions and develop problem-solving skills.
Birth of Prayas (2016)
The zeal to fill this gap became the cause of the birth of the Prayas . An organization started back in 2016, we are now planning to manage a school for underprivileged children of their own, to provide quality education to underprivileged students from different parts of the blocks, districts & states of India. We also conduct many helps to different society clubs and organizations involved in many activities like skill development programs like tailoring, computer training, etc, and have many other small initiatives.
